George Stillman Hillard (1808-1879)

George Stillman Hillard was a multitalented man of letters and an aspiring politician who held a number of political offices: state representative in 1835, state senator in 1850, Boston city solicitor from 1853-55, and U.S. attorney for Massachusetts from 1866-71. Hillard was admired as a conversationalist within the Boston literary scene.
