Andrew Jackson (1767-1845)

Here is a lithograph of President Andrew Jackson seated from the painting by W. J. Hubard. "Old Hickory" became America's greatest living hero after his victory at the Battle of New Orleans. He was twice elected president. Before he took office he promised to give the government back to the people, but while in office he instead greatly expanded the power of the presidency.
