Lady Harriet Ackland
Lady Harriet Ackland is depicted as she travels down the Hudson River to the American camp to nurse her husband, a prisoner, who had been wounded in the second Battle of Saratoga. She accompanied her husband and his regiment to America from Great Britain during the war. She is accompanied in the boat by Mr. Brudenell, a chaplain; Sarah Pollard, a waiting maid; and Major Ackland's valet. The engraving is by H. B. Hall after a painting by Alonzo Chappel.
