Marie Rappold (1873-1957) at Universal Studios
Marie Winterroth Rappold, a soprano from London, made her 1905 Metropolitan opera debut as Sulamith in "Die Konigen von Saba." After four years at the Met, Rappold went to Europe, then returned to the Met (1910-20). The soprano settled in Los Angeles, where she taught and appeared in films. This photograph, taken on a large hotel set at Universal, shows from left to right: Arthur Walsh, violinist; Miss Lillian Rappold; Verdi E. B. Fuller, manager; Miles Overholt, one of the editors of the Los Angeles "Examiner;" and Marie Rappold.
