Middle Bridge, Antietam Creek
This photograph was taken soon after battle of the Antietam. It depicts the Middle Bridge, also known as Antietam Bridge. Its road ran directly into Sharpsburg and to Lee's headquarters to the west. On the right are the remains of a dam that straddled the creek and gave power to the mill owned by the Newcomer family.
