A Fort on Atlanta's Northern Perimeter
This sandbagged redoubt for cannons was also protected by spiked logs called cheveax-de-fries. Two houses (at center and right of photo) were stripped of their lumber in order to build the Confederate works. These fortifications were recently captured by the Federal forces at the time George Barnard took this photograph.
