Comte de Paris
The Comte de Paris accompanied his uncle, the French Prince de Joinville, to America to observe the Civil War. He was nicknamed Captain Parry by McClellan's men. The idea that the North was fighting to free the slaves attracted many Europeans, a few who journeyed to the battlefields.
