Joseph Warren (1741-1775)

Warren was a patriot and respected physician from Boston whose skill as an orator and author helped to make him a leader in the Massachusetts revolutionary movement. He was a member of the Boston Committee of Correspondence, the Committee of Safety and the Provincial Congress. He is depicted here fighting at the Battle of Bunker Hill where he was killed. This steel engraving appeared as an illustration in the 1857 book, "Life and Times of Washington," by John Frederick Schroeder. It was engraved after a painting by Alonzo Chappel.
