The First Stage From Baltimore to Washington": This inn was a stopping point on the tour of James Monroe. In the early summer of 1817, President Monroe embarked on a tour of the states in the north. It was during this tour that the era was named "The Era of Good Feeling." This lithograph was drawn by F. F. DeRoos and engraved by T. M. Baynes.
