Mary Elizabeth Taylor Bliss

The beautiful youngest daughter of twelfth President Zachary Taylor was commonly known as Betty. Mrs. Bliss graciously took over the duties of official hostess at the White House when her father became president. Her mother suffered ill-health, and was unable to function in this capacity.
