John Charles Fremont in Military Uniform (1813-1890)

John C. Fremont was an American explorer, soldier, and politician. He was a U.S. Senator during 1850-51, he ran for president on the Republican ticket in 1856, and he explored and mapped a large portion of the Western United States, earning the nickname, "Pathfinder."
