The Slaughter Pen at Gettysburg

In this picture, a glimpse among the trees shows a "harvest of death" in the woods surrounding Round Top. The dead bodies scattered on the ground throughout the picture are those of slain Confederates. This stereo card was originally published by the War Photograph & Exhibition Company in Hartford, Connecticut, as part of their photographic war history, 1861-1865 series. This stereo card photograph was taken by Alexander Gardner, circa 1863.
