Slain Confederate Soldiers at Gettysburg, near Rose Farm

In this photograph, the bodies of slain Confederate soldiers are lined up on the ground under a tree. They were photographed by Timothy O'Sullivan, a member of photographer Alexander Gardner's team, on July 5 or 6, 1863. Note the badly mauled corpse in the background.
