Union Field Hospital, Gettysburg

This is a photograph of a handful of the tents that made up a hospital housing 2,500 soldiers wounded from the battle of Gettysburg. In the middle tent, men lie on cots. To the left, one woman poses in her hoop skirt and bonnet amongst the civilians gathered there.
