The USS Cairo at Paducah
An ironclad river gunboat of 512 tons, Cairo served valiantly in the Western Gunboat Flotilla on the Cumberland River, Fort Pillow, and other engagements until she was hit by a torpedo in the Yazoo River and destroyed. The ship was recovered in 1965, partially restored and is now on exhibit in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
