Emperor Hirohito (1901-1989)

Hirohito is shown riding in a carriage during his youth. Hirohito became emperor on the death of his father in 1926, becoming the 124th emperor in direct lineage. His reign was the longest in Japanese history. Hirohito maintained a lifelong interest in marine biology.
