Benjamin Louis Eulalie de Bonneville (1793-1878)

Benjamin L. E. Bonneville graduated from West Point in 1815. He is best remembered for his explorations in the Western United States from 1831 to 1836. Washington Irving used his journal as the basis for The Adventures of Captain Bonneville (1843). He served as a recruiting officer for Missouri during the Civil War and was brevetted brigadier general.
