Gabriel Harrison (1818-1902)
Gabriel Harrison was an actor, playwright and daguerreotypist. He had a daguerreotype studio in Brooklyn (1852-1859). Harrison was one of the first to see the artistic possibilities of photography. He appeared on the New York stage, and managed theaters, but later in life acted mostly in amateur productions in Brooklyn. His most remembered play was a version of Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter.
