Mulberry Street Garment Workers
Mrs. Battaglia, Tessie (age twelve), and Tony (age seven) lived at 170 Mulberry Street on the fifth floor of the rear house. Mr. Battaglia was crippled by a fall and could earn very little. Mrs. Battaglia worked in a shop every day except Saturdays, when the children worked with her at home. They received two or three cents a pair for finishing men's pants and said they earned $1.00 to $1.50 on Saturday.
