James Garfield Removes Two Hooligans
This cartoon depicts James Garfield as president of Hiram College. He is carrying two ruffians, who both have three feet on each leg. The cartoon is from the September 22, 1880 issue of "Puck," and was drawn by Frederick Burr Opper (1857-1937), who was the well-known cartoonist of both the "Happy Hooligan" and "Alphonse and Gaston."
