James Garfield's Inauguration

Garfield was inaugurated on March 4, 1881. Chief Justice Morrison R. Waite administered the oath of office to James Garfield on the east portico of the U.S. Capitol, March 4, 1881. Garfield was the twentieth president of the United States.
