"Harrison Broken Loose"
This political cartoon was an illustration in the June 30, 1888 issue of "Harper's Weekly" after the 1888 Republican convention. It portrays the Republican party as a runaway elephant trumpeting the 1888 party ticket holding a "Harrison" flag in its trunk and a "Morton" flag in its tail. Uncle Sam stands by the road side with a jug of hard cider decorated with the face of Benjamin Harrison and the slogan "Young Tip." This is a reference to his grandfather William Henry Harrison or "Old Tip" and his victory at the Battle of Tippecanoe.
