"Mrs. Andrew Jackson"

The beloved wife of Andrew Jackson, Rachel Jackson (1767-1828) died just a month before her husband became president. This lithograph portrait of Andrew Jackson's wife was engraved by John Chester Buttre after a 1827 painting by Ralph E. W. Earl. It was engraved as an illustration for the 1883 book "The Ladies of the White House."
