"Mrs. Rachel Jackson, Late Consort to Andrew Jackson, President of the United States"
Rachel Donelson Robards Jackson (1767-1828) was the beloved wife of Andrew Jackson who died the year before he became president. She was depressed and died of a heart attack after her health was weakened by slanderous accusations of bigamy and adultery. This engraving and acquatint was published by Joseph How of Philadelphia sometime in the later half of the nineteenth century.
