The Attempted Assassination of Andrew Jackson
This lithograph by an unknown artist depicts the attempted assassination of President Jackson on January 1, 1835. It took place after funeral services for congressman Warren R. Davis. Richard Lawrence shot at Jackson but his pistols misfired. Lawrence was knocked to the ground and arrested. He was later tried and found innocent by reason of insanity.
