In this photograph, Little Heart, the chief of the Kiowa Native American Tribe, wears his distinctive crucifix at Mathew Brady's studio in New York City, across the street from where he was appearing at P.T. Barnum's American Museum. The photograph was taken by Mathew Brady, circa 1863.
