This is a photograph of Jacob, a Caddo Native American. In the picture, he poses full length, dressed in a white man's suit. The photograph was taken by Mathew Brady at his New York City studio, across the street from where Jacob was appearing at P.T. Barnum's American Museum, circa 1864.
