"Uncle Sam's Pet Pups! or, Mother Bank's Last Refuge"

This is a pro-Whig political cartoon from the 1840 presidential election. Major Jack Downing shoos pups Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren as they chase "Mother Bank" while she takes refuge in Whig candidate William Henry Harrison's barrel of Hard Cider. Jackson and Van Buren were intent on closing down the Bank of the United States and Harrison had made a campaign promise to reestablish the bank.
