"Major, Genl. Zachary Taylor"
This illustration of General Zachary Taylor was probably made in 1847, which was the year of the battle at Buena Visa in the Mexican War. During the war, Taylor became extremely popular with the American people. His leadership style and practical concern for each individual soldier instilled a sense of confidence in his men. He often went to battle without his full uniform, and in this picture he wears a floppy hat. This lithograph was engraved and published by H. R. Robinson.
