"General Taylor at Monterey" [sic]
In 1846, the first year of the Mexican War, General Zachary Taylor led his troops across the Rio Grande, advanced towards Monterrey, and captured the city on September 22nd and 23rd. This lithograph was engraved by W. Wellstood after a painting by Alonzo Chappel.
