Poster for 1848 Presidential Campaign
The poster contains words for a song called "Old Zack Taylor Is The Man!" to be sung to the tune of Yankee Doodle. Uncle Sam stands in front of the White House wearing a '76 hat and knee breeches. To his right is Zachary Taylor, holding a lease to "Uncle Sam's Farm." To his left, James Polk and his cabinet flee with bundles marked "Spoils," "To patch up a fortune," and "One of the Walkers." Also on the left, democratic candidate Lewis Cass tries to climb over a fence into the White House. In 1859, Zachary Taylor would become the twelfth president.
