"The Great Presidential Race of 1856"
This is a cartoon satirizing the 1856 presidential campaign. Millard Fillmore, the American party candidate rides a goose and states, "I'm 'All right on the Goose,' and yet I dont seem to make much head way, Gentlemen you may all laugh, but if I'm not the next President the Union Will Be Disolved, The South Wont Stand It." Democratic candidate James Buchanan has fallen of his mount, who is vice presidential candidate John C. Breckinridge in the form of a buck. Breckinridge has been knocked unconscious when driven into the Democratic platform that has planks labeled "slavery" and "Cuba."
