John Porter Hatch (1822-1901)
John P. Hatch was a brevet major general of volunteers in the Union Army. Singled out for bravery in battle, Hatch subsequently failed in two raids. He was severely wounded at the battle of South Mountain. After his convalescence, he performed administrative duties. In 1893, he received the Congressional Medal of Honor for bravery at South Mountain.
