William B. Hazen (1830-1887)
When William Babcock Hazen entered the Civil War he was a first lieutenant and instructor of infantry tactics. He was an excellent fighter and commander and by the end of the war he was made major general in the volunteers and brevet major general in the regulars. After the war he remained in the army.
