Frank Damrosch (1859-1937)
Frank Damrosch was a music educator, born in Poland. He came to New York with his father, the conductor Leopold Damrosch, in 1871. In 1905, Damrosch obtained a grant to establish the Institute of Musical Art in New York, the first world-class music school in the U.S. The institute merged with the Juilliard Graduate School in 1926 and Damrosch became dean.
