David Dudley Field (1805-1894)

David Dudley Field was an American lawyer and legal reformer who argued several cases involving significant constitutional issues before the United States Supreme Court. But it was his work in behalf of law reform rather than his famous practice that established Field’s legal reputation. He developed a code that became the basis for the reform of civil law procedure throughout the United States.
