Benjamin Joseph Franklin (1839-1898)
Benjamin Joseph Franklin was elected to the State senate of Kansas in 1861, but the Civil War broke out and he never served. He entered the Confederate Army as a private and was promoted to captain. Franklin was elected as a Democrat to Congress from Missouri (1875-79). From 1896 to 1897 Franklin was governor of the Territory of Arizona.
