John Wakefiehl Francis (1789-1861)

Francis was graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1811. He became a lecturer in materia medica in 1813 and was named professor soon after. Francis wrote many sketches and articles on topics varying as widely as the use of mercury to alcoholism to New York antiquities.
