John Thomsen Ford (1829-1894)
A theater manager, John Thomsen Ford was the owner of the theater in which Lincoln was shot. Soon after the assassination he and his brother, Henry Clay Ford, were put in prison for thirty-nine days. Since there was no evidence against them, they were released and exonerated. The theater was seized by the government, which ordered that it should never more be used for public entertainment.
