Ferryboat and a Two-masted Schooner in New York Harbor

Edward Anthony was one of the first photographers to document sailing ships in New York City. Here in this "instantaneous" photograph taken in 1859, a schooner passes by Governor's Island on its way down New York Bay while a Union Co. ferry passes.
