"Washington at Home"

This Currier & Ives lithograph depicts George Washington, Martha Custis Washington and her grandchildren around at a table seemingly discussing a geography lesson. A globe and a map are on the table. The grandchildren are George Washington Parke Custis and Eleanor Parke Custis. A family servant William Lee looks on over Martha's shoulder. This 1867 engraving is loosely based on Edward Savage's painting, "The Washington Family."
