David Dudley Field (1805-1894)

A lawyer and law reformer, Field was born in Connecticut, and was the brother of Cyrus West Field. He argued many monumental cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. But his greatest contribution was his codification of law into the political, penal, and civil codes. Field was also active in the area of international law and proposed an international code.
