James Thomas Fields (1817-1881)

Author and publisher, Fields began as a junior partner in the publishing house of Ticknor & Fields. In 1859 Ticknor & Fields took over the "Atlantic Monthly" and Fields became editor. He enlisted the best writers in the country. In 1870 he retired and became a popular lecturer.
