Edwin Lawrence Godkin (1831-1902)

Godkin was a magazine and newspaper writer and editor from Ireland. He came to the United States in 1856, where he became editor of "The Nation." In 1881 Godkin merged "The Nation" with the "New York Evening Post" and continued as editor. He retired in 1900. This photo is of a page in the "New York Evening Post."
