Louis Malesherbes Goldsborough (1805-1877)

Goldsborough was a U.S. naval officer. In 1841 he was made commander and saw duty in the Mexican War. He was promoted to captain in 1855. Early in 1862 Goldsborough led a combined army-navy expedition to capture Roanoke Island, North Carolina. He received the Thanks of Congress for his success. In 1862 he was promoted to rear admiral.
