Daniel Chevilette Govan (1829-1911)
In 1861, Daniel Govan, a lieutenant colonel, raised a company that became part of the 2nd Arkansas. He saw duty at Shiloh and Perryville. He commanded Lidell's brigade at Chickamauga and Missionary Ridge. Govan was appointed brigadier general in 1863, then took command of Govan's Brigade in Cleburne's division.
