Mentor Graham (1800-1886)
Mentor Graham was born near Greensburg, Kentucky. He attended a one room school when he was very young and in 1812 enrolled in his uncle's Bush Creek Academy. After a few years Graham was employed as headmaster of Greensburg School. In 1825 Graham moved north to Illinois. Graham is credited with giving Abraham Lincoln whatever higher education he received, including surveying. This is a photographic copy of a daguerreotype.
