Francis Granger (1792-1868)

Francis Granger was a member of the New York State assembly from 1826 to 1828 and 1830 to 1832. He was elected as a Whig to Congress (1835-37 and 1839-41). President William Henry Harrison appointed him postmaster general in 1841. From 1841 to 1843 he was again in Congress. He was a member of the peace convention of 1841, held in an effort to prevent the impending war. This is a photographic print of a daguerreotype.
