Madison Grant (1865-1937)
Grant was a lawyer and naturalist. He was important in the conservation movement in the early part of the century. Grant wrote a popular book called "The Passing of the Great Race," a racist championing of the "Nordic races." Grant served on the International Commission on Eugenics. He helped to develop the restrictive immigration policy of the 1920s, which lasted until the 1960s.
