David Hummell Greer (1844-1919)
This is believed to be a carte de visite of David Hummell Greer, bishop of the Episcopal church. He was ordained as a priest in 1868 and became rector of Trinity Church in Covington, Kentucky. In 1872 he began a rectorship at Grace Church in Providence, Rhode Island. He rose rapidly in his diocese. He accepted a call to St. Bartholomew's, in New York City, in 1888, where he supported religious and social work. Greer was consecrated bishop in 1904. He published his lectures and sermons.
